Lil Wayne has had a rough time in recent weeks. He was rushed to the hospital after having multiple seizures on a music video set, reported to have been near death, tweeted that he was, in fact, OK, and finally, he made it home in time to announce a new tour. After all that, Weezy recently revealed that he suffers from epilepsy.

On Thursday (March 28) Wayne admitted that he has suffered from multiple seizures in his lifetime that he kept from his fans.

“The thing is, man, the bad news is, I’m an epileptic, so I’m prone to seizures,” the rapper said in a radio interview. “This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures; y’all just never hear about it. This time, it got real bad because I got three of ‘em in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died soon. That’s why it was so serious.”

During Wayne’s hospitalization rumors circulated that Weezy’s seizures were a result of ingesting Sizzurp, a promethazine and codeine cocktail that has been known to cause death. Wayne offered a different explanation.

“The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself,” he said. “That’s typical me, though.”

TMZ originally reported that the rapper had been given his last rites while in the hospital (but have since taken the report down). The website, which broke the story concerning Wayne’s hospitalization, also reported that the rapper’s mother was on a plane to Los Angeles, and that “all major decisions about Wayne’s health (including the decision to discontinue life support) [would] not be made until she arrives.”

While the rapper didn’t deny the TMZ rumors, he did comment on them.

“I can’t be upset at that,” he said. “I get upset at my kids when they do things that I tell ‘em not to do; I can’t get upset at TMZ for doing what they do. The truth isn’t good enough for them, so they gotta twist everything up.”

Lil Wayne’s IANAHB2, released on Tuesday (March 26), is currently projected to sell around 210,000 copies and debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 behind Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience, based on first-day sales.
